Ideas From My Childhood

Last night after Jack had played in the wading pool for a while, Craig watched him and I ran inside and got a washcloth and soap. Jack had his first bath in the pool. My mom did this with us every summer when we were little. It was quick and easy. He was ready for jammies when we were done playing. I will probably be doing this a lot this summer.

The 27th

Jack is 9 months today and what a truly amazing 9 months it has been!

Ouch

I may have broken my little toe. Yesterday, I stubbed it on a wicker chair on our porch. Jack laughed as I danced around in pain. As the afternoon went on, it became very swollen and purple. It is SOOOO sore!!! I think I will be wearing shoes around the house from now on.

Chasing My Tail

I feel like I am running in circles today. We did not have anything left in the fridge or cupboards that Craig could take for lunch. I told him, that since he is working in town today, that Jack and I would run get some groceries and bring him lunch. We did this, but by the time we were up and around and Jack had had his first nap, we ran our errands, and then got lunch to Craig, it was already 1:00. We came home, I fed Jack, put him down for a nap and am now trying to decide what to try to accomplish today. I have a make-up piano lesson this afternoon at 4:00. That will really shorten my day. I'm contemplating changing my lesson policy. Is it not fair to charge a monthly fee regardless of whether or not students make it to each weekly lesson and not do any make-ups? That would be so much easier!

Friends and the Fountain

Amy and I took Jack and Harrison to the fountain again this week. The water is a little too cold for Jack's comfort. We ended up sitting under a shade tree to play and watching the older kids enjoy the fountain. Maybe next summer we will join them.

Funny

Jack puts his pacifier in several different ways, and seems to enjoy each new way he tries!

Enjoying Summer

Jack was feeling better yesterday, so we broke in our new wading pool. It was so much fun! Jack and I went out in the afternoon, but it was too hot! The water was even a little too warm. We went back out after supper with daddy. Jack is feeling much better, and has passed on colds to both mommy and daddy.

Another First

We have our first ear infection. Ugh! Jack has had a cold going on 2 1/2 weeks now. I thought it was getting better and then it got a lot worse yesterday. I took him to the doctor, again. Our pediatrician is on vacation, so I saw a different doctor for the second time. She said that it is just a bad cold with ear infection. The poor baby is definitely not feeling well. As of this afternoon, I have that all too familiar feeling of coming down with a cold myself. I'm not looking forward to what tomorrow may hold for me. Summertime colds are the worst! I was expecting to get it.

OK

Ok, seriously, Amy should not have introduced me to Tee's! I don't know why Craig and I had never been there. Their flavored ice cream is so great! I have liked every flavor I have tried. Yesterday, I took back pop cans that were sitting in the garage so that I could have an afternoon treat! :)

Bothering Me

Every time I pull into our driveway, it is bugging me that the shed Craig bought is off-white with green trim and our house is white with green trim. (He probably hasn't noticed and won't realize this very important detail until he checks my blog tonight :))

Procrastinating

It's not one of my better traits. I seem to put off things often that really wouldn't take long or wouldn't be bad if I would just get started. I am procrastinating this morning by checking email and blogs. I have a couple large piles of laundry to be done, dishes filling the sink along with the waffle iron and George Foreman that we used yesterday (two of my least favorite kitchen items to clean), dusting and vacuuming upstairs, luggage to be put away, closet to sort through, some things to take to Goodwill and finding time to enjoy a beautiful day with Jack. Finding time to play with Jack is always easy to do. It's the other things that keep getting postponed until tomorrow over and over again.

Our Good Eater

Jack loves to eat! He gets so excited when we put him in the high chair. It doesn't matter what we give him. If it's green beans, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, apples, pears, he will eat it. We started some finger foods this week, and he REALLY likes those! It also helps keep him occupied during mealtime or while I am trying to clean up the kitchen :)

One More

I forgot one of my new favorites....a butterscotch ice cream cone from Tee's!

New Favorites

Edy's fruit bars - lime flavored (Oprah had in her summer favorite beach bag so I tried them, very tasty!)

Butterfinger hot chocolate

Lemon - Lime Orbit gum

Caribou Coffee granola bars - caramel and vanilla latte flavored

White Chocolate Raspberry flavored coffee creamer

Unfortunately, none of these things can be purchased at Aldi's.

The Shed

Craig worked until after dark the night before he left for Phoenix trying to get his shed to a point where he thought it would stand "in case it might get windy." Little did we know it would get VERY windy. It was still standing after the tornado. He is going to try to get it finished tonight as they are predicting severe weather again tomorrow afternoon.

Short Visit

I have been looking for some matching chairs for our kitchen table for quite a while. My dad called a couple weeks ago and not only found some chairs but a very nice table. An older couple was getting rid of it and it is in very good condition. My dad and Ann made the long, round trip yesterday to deliver the table and chairs (pictures later, when we have the furniture rearranged). I loved the look on Jack's face when he saw them. He was so excited! He loves Grandpa and Grandma!!!

Jammies

Yesterday, we were in our jammies longer than usual :)

Jack and Grandpa

Jack had so much fun playing with Grandpa over the weekend!

Today

Today my goals were to: 1) take a shower, 2) unpack and put things away, 3) clean up the kitchen, 4) relax a little bit and maybe take a nap this afternoon. Jack and I went to my dad and stepmom's for the weekend while Craig was in Phoenix for a conference. We missed all the excitement back here at home with the tornado. Craig was very concerned about the storage shed he had started, but it is still standing and our house is fine. Craig had to go down to Fruitland for work this morning and said that the pictures we have seen don't even come close to showing the devastation. When I heard about the storm, I was so thankful I was not at home with Jack alone as I don't particularly like severe weather. :) Jack and I had a great time, but we are both worn out! The first three things on my list are just about done!
