Jack And Grandpa....

have a lot of fun together and have a shared fashion sense! :)

UGH!

Jack and I both woke up sick this morning. I had a horrendous headache that was making me sick to my stomach. Thanks to Craig's "Goody's Headache Powder" I am feeling much better. Jack on the other hand, is very sick. He has a fever and is vomiting. He is in bed sleeping now, but has just laid on us and wimpered all morning. I hate feeling so helpless when he's sick. We're praying he is better soon.

The Water Is Too Cold!

My Helper

Tonight, Craig and I were talking and realized Jack had left the room and we didn't hear him. I knew he had headed toward the kitchen. When we looked, we found him unloading the hamper and putting clothes in the washing machine. I hope his willingness to help continues for a very long time!

Colorful Bath

Yesterday, Jack and I got some bathtub paint. He wasn't as excited about it in the bath as I thought he might be. He played with it for a little while and then went back to his regular bath toys. I guess it will last for quite a while!

Reminiscing Tonight

I am playing with adding video to my blog. I know, it's not really all that difficult, but it seemed to take me a while. (Please ignore my silly voice!)

Lazy With My Camera

I haven't done a very good job of taking pictures lately. There was plenty to take pictures of the last couple days and I didn't do it. The storm damage is incredible! Monday, we spent a lot of the day at my grandma's as we didn't have power for a while. When we did go home, we thought we smelled gas. Craig called MPW to come test for natural gas and that wasn't it. We're not sure what it was, but suspect maybe sewer gas from all the rain. LOVELY! It has been much better today. I will try to take pictures of Jack tomorrow :)

The Bomb Pop

Jack really enjoyed a bomb pop yesterday...so much so, that at every meal since, as soon as he is in his chair he is squeeling and pointing at the freezer. We passed on the bomb pop for breakfast. :)

This Week

I will have to post some pictures later today. Jack is napping and I need to get caught up. It's just been a week when we've been busy, but not doing anything extraordinary. We went for a walk this morning, and enjoyed the cooler weather and breeze. More later today!

He Loves Water

Recommitted

After a somewhat, stressful, discouraging (not even sure those are the right words) weekend, I feel so much better today. Trying to finish improvements on our house seems to be taking a lot longer than I thought they would. I know Craig is working so hard. He works long hours at work and comes home totally drained after being in the heat all day. Then he plays with Jack for a while and goes back to work on the house. We had just gotten done "discussing" the house Saturday afternoon, and his phone rang calling him to work. Someone had cut a cable and Craig had to go fix it. He didn't get home until after 8 Saturday evening. I was really frustrated. I'm sure I wasn't half as frustrated as he was. Yesterday several things happened that put things in perspective and made it all seem so much better. Today I feel refreshed and recommitted to patience, love, exercise, Craig, Jack, and life at the Butler house in general.

The Spoon

Jack is getting better and better with his fork and spoon. Today he did well with spaghetti. A little still made it to his hair. :)

Surprised

I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical when Craig planted flower seeds in our little flower bed where we used to have a tree. I didn't think they would grow due to past experiences. As we started to see some green here, I was sure they were weeds. Just in the last couple weeks, all kinds of flowers have appeared.

Popcorn Drums

Jack played with two tins that had held popcorn. He moved them all around the house and played them like a drumset all weekend.

A Few More Weekend Pictures

Jack And The Bunnies

My dad and Anne's neighbors have three children. The youngest will be in 3rd grade in the fall. Jack loved playing with and feeding their pet rabbits. He also played in their sandbox, with the bubbles, and toys. He had so much fun!

Mommy and Jack ready to go to the parade (Jack found a Rubik's cube in the cupboard at grandpa's)
Daddy and Jack watching the parade

Grandma and Jack (Jack was wearing down quickly - the parade was during his usual nap time)

We had a great weekend at my dad and stepmom's. We went to the parade, ate way too much, reconnected with neighbors, played, fished, and relaxed. We had a great time!

Let The Weekend Begin!!!

Jack is taking a nap and I am packing. We are headed to Creston to my dad's for the 4th weekend. I am looking forward to some time away. There's something about holidays in your hometown. I've always enjoyed the 4th of July. I don't, however, miss marching with the band in the parade in 90 degree weather or spending all afternoon working on 4-H projects as the fair was usually the next week (a couple memories.) I am excited to see how Jack likes the parade and creating some of our own new memories! Have a great weekend everyone! (Just a couple pics of Jack being cute this morning - he is singing a song in the last one:)

Jack began his week with his horse hat and cheese :)
