Heath

One of Craig's best friends and heroes is Heath. Heath invited Craig to come to Calvary for the first time with some of his other buddies. We can actually give him a lot of the credit for Craig and I meeting each other and eventually getting married since we met at Calvary. Heath is fun, crazy, very sincere, and definitely on fire for God. He is also somewhat of an exhibitionist ( I have been mooned on occasion). After we have been to visit Heath and Jennifer, he definitely rubs off on Craig and I have my own little exhibitionist who thinks that he is very funny ( I, not so much at times). I have been thinking about and praying for Heath a lot lately as he is part of the special forces stationed in the Middle East. He and Jennifer have two adorable little boys and another on the way. I admire Jennifer for staying home with two toddlers, while pregnant, by herself. This last week, Heath was guarding Condoleezza Rice. I admire the sacrifice that both he and Jennifer are making. We love them and will continue to keep them in our prayers until Heath is home to stay.

Missing my mom

I am overwhelmed. There is a lot to do to get ready for the arrival of our first child and I haven't been doing a very good job keeping up with the day to day maintenance of our home. Just in the last couple weeks, the baby has decided to lay just right so that I have A LOT of lower back pain that hurts down into my hips and thighs. I have just been trying to make it to 5:00 each day at work, come home and give a couple flute or piano lessons and then sit on the couch. I have wanted so many times to just pick up the phone and say, "Mom, could you come help me?" I know she would have LOVED anticipating this first grandchild with us. Through all of our disagreements, I always admired her classiness, ability to organize and accomplish more in one day than I seem to in a month, balance work, a family, and other outside activities, and do everything with the utmost quality. I know she would have gladly come on a weekend when I needed her help to clean, organize and prepare. I have been envious watching some of my other friends with their moms as they get ready for the birth of their babies. My mom taught me to sew and I have been making the bedding, curtains and accessories for the baby's room. Today, as I work on those projects, I will be sewing with more fond memories of my mom.

The Great Debate

Back when we were dating, Craig had told me that he would someday like to name a son after his grandpa, Jack Butler. They were very close. I like the name too. We have tried to find out the sex of this baby and it hasn't cooperated, so we have been discussing names for boys and girls. We agree on the first name for a girl also, and are working on a middle name. As we have talked about a name for a boy, Craig has said that he thinks it would be really cool to have his initials spell JEB. He thinks this is a great redneck name, would look cool on the back of a shirt, and I guess it was the name of a Civil War general. (He is a history buff and loves to read about the Civil War) I don't mind JEB at all, but Craig is trying to rally support from family and friends for the middle name Elvis! He actually has some supporters. I'm going to have to work harder to find people who will side with me. How about a nice middle name like Emmet, Evan, or Ethan?

Urgency

My husband and I don't seem to have the same sense of urgency. I really like to plan ahead and be ready with every detail in place. We are going to have a baby in nine weeks and I would really like to have the house clean and the baby's room ready. Craig is currently working on making the closet bigger in the baby's room to provide more storage for us, which we should have done a long time ago. It is a BIG mess right now. He told me a month ago it would take him one weekend of working hard on the project to get it done. Well, here we are. It seems to be causing several arguments lately. I want it done so I can clean the room, set up the crib and changing table and get things in order. This morning as I was getting ready for work, he was watching CMT, and said, "Hey, Sweet Pea, did you hear that? There's a Hee Haw marathon on CMT this weekend!!!" .....and so began another little tiff.

Finally a Blogger!

I have enjoyed reading everyone else's Blogs and finally took the time to join in all the fun myself. I have long thought it would be a great idea to journal which I used to do a lot. With a baby on the way I wanted to get started to be able to keep track of all the day to day excitement that will bring. Until the baby arrives, I will have the day to day antics of Craig to provide entertainment! So, here's to blogging.
