The Weekend

We are just loving this weather! It is perfect!!! This morning we had Casey's doughnuts (per request from Jack and mommy,)Craig changed the oil in my car, vacuumed out my car and his truck, and mommy and Jack played with sidewalk chalk and bubbles. Craig is gone to a bluegrass festival for the afternoon, Jack is napping and I am going back and forth between several seasonal projects (cleaning, getting out fall decor, and sorting through Jack's clothes and putting away what is too small while getting his fall/winter clothes organized.) Maybe I should concentrate on one project until it's done and then start another. I just wanted to cross several things off my list this weekend. Here are a few cute pictures from the other day.

Randomness

I think we are on the mend around here. I caught cold from Jack. He's still coughing, but doing much better. Jack and I had some excitement today. We were running some errands and stopped at a convenience store so I could get a Diet Coke refill. Just as we pulled up a little brawl started right in front of our car. It was mostly just shouting and a lot of threats. I wasn't sure what we were going to see. Thankfully, it ended somewhat peacefully.

The last couple weeks, Craig and I have been up too late watching the Olympics. I had determined to go to bed early again this week. Now the Olympians we love, are on Leno and Letterman. We watched Shawn Johnson Monday night, Nastia Liukin last night(don't like her as much as Shawn:)) and will watch Shawn again Friday night. I guess I will have to be determined for early bedtimes next week.

I'm trying to enjoy my last week of summer vacation. My very busy music lesson schedule begins next week. The calendar is full of a lot of other activities for September. Trying to take it all in stride.

Who Doesn't Listen To Bluegrass While Getting Ready For Bed?!!

Sorry it's so dark! (I'm working on that kind of stuff:)

Poor Jackie Boy

I thought Jack had a head/chest cold Friday morning. Throughout the day it seemed to get worse. Friday night, he coughed all night long. Yesterday it got worse and he had a fever. We took him to urgent care. The doctor there said that he has bronchitis and sinus infection and that the bronchitis is going around town. He has just laid on Craig or I. When he lays down in bed, he starts coughing and can't sleep at all. He has had some antibiotic so we are hoping to see a lot of improvement today. I just wish there was more I could do to help him feel better.

We Had Success!

Jack, Grandma, and I found some great deals at two consignment stores today. Mommy was shopping for fall/winter clothes. Grandma and Jack were shopping for toys. :)

Mommy's favorite find of the day: Nikes in great condition for $3.00!

Jack's favorite find of the day: A laughing Elmo chair. Thank you Grandma!

Daddy's favorite shirt from our pile of clothes: Sorry Grandpa Clayton - it's impossible to find anything ISU in the Quad Cities and Mommy did get 1 of her degrees from Iowa. :)

Where Has The Week Gone?

I can't believe that it is Thursday already! A few highlights from the week: 1)Had a flat tire on the way to exercise, couldn't be repaired, had nails in the second back tire, ended up having to buy two new tires, 2)Have added several new piano students, I have lost count what the total is for the fall 3)Have stayed up way too late watching the olympics all week - that along with the rain is causing me to feel very tired today 4)Went out with some great girlfriends last night and had a great time! I really don't do that often enough. 5)Jack and I are headed to some consignment stores this afternoon to look for some fall/winter clothes. Yeah!!! I love fall!

Everything Has To Be Just Right

When Jack sits up to the piano, he always has to have music in front of him, (which is sometimes a book or magazine,) and the metronome going. He should have great rhythm someday!

New Pajamas

I think Jack's friend, Harrison, has passed along his love for cars! Everywhere we go now, Jack's spots Lightning McQueen. We found these new jammies on the clearance rack at Farm and Fleet...can't help it...married to a redneck!

You Might Be A Redneck If....

you come across a sand box in a dumpster and bring it home for your child! Hey, it works for us and Jack is thrilled!

Bribery?...

...sort of. Jack was watching Sesame Street this morning while I was putting away laundry in our room.

He Gets It From Me

The noise of the car and the road noise, usually put Jack to sleep. Sleeping in the car seat just doesn't look very comfortable!

Winding Down

Summer will soon be gone. I love fall and am loving the weather we are having! Today was the last infant/toddler swim time at the aquatic center. I debated about whether to even go because it was only 65 degrees this morning! We went and Jack loved it as always. He didn't want to leave. I think it's time for pictures. I will have to try to get some this afternoon.

Resisting

Today I am totally fighting the urge to be lazy! We had a busy last few days packed with family, a wedding, getting ready for the family to visit, etc. etc. I really just wanted to sit on the couch and watch some Olympics and Rachel Ray but instead I have been sitting at the desk, balancing the check book, paying bills, answering emails and making several phone calls that I had been putting off. I do feel like I have accomplished a little bit and I hear Jack waking up from his nap. No laziness here!

Much Better

Everyone here is doing much better. Jack is definitely himself! The weekend was good. Little by little, Craig is getting projects done around the house. His latest success was quieting "Charlie." When our sump pump would run it would sound loud in the kitchen sink and push up nasty smelling water into the kitchen sink each time. This has been going on for the last year and a half or so. (more results of poor fix-it methods from previous owners) A friend was over a couple weeks ago to help Craig hang lights in our kitchen and the sump pump ran. He said, "I think you need to feed Charlie." It is so nice to have a quiet sump pump and no stink in the kitchen now!

Saturday morning I played for worship at a women's ministry event at our church. I also played with the worship team for weekend services. Last night Craig's mom came for a visit and we went to the park and out to dinner. It was a busy but fun weekend. We have more family coming this week for a visit. Today we are going to spend most of the day inside avoiding the 95 degree weather outside.

Not The Flu

Jack did not have the flu. Yesterday morning, I thought he seemed a lot better and his temperature had gone down. About mid-day, he started whimpering and laying around. His temperature was up to 102. I called the doctor and took him in. She was pretty sure he has strep. With just a couple doses of antibiotic, he is so much better. He was miserable. I don't think I've seen him that sick before. I felt just awful for him. My throat has been scratchy off and on last night and today. I keep gargling with Listerine (my grandma's idea) to get rid of the germs! I have a very busy weekend and no time to be sick! We'll see what happens.
